 Happy New Year!

Have you set some goals for this new year 2012?  Are you looking to improve, reduce, or increase some areas of your life?

On January 1, Pastor Scott encouraged us all to get into God's Word this year, the Bible.  As he told us, it's the best-seller in the world, yet also best dust collector in many homes.  (yikes!)  The Holy Bible is God's way of communicating to us that is right at our fingertips. Through it God is reaching out to us and proving over and over that He is there in all aspects of our lives and that he has laws and guidance for us if we will only take the time to learn them.

Time….just think about the time that God has already invested in us.  And the LOVE.  He wants a relationship with YOU.  And through regular - daily is best - Bible reading and study you can strengthen your personal relationship with God and understanding of Him which in turn will strengthen all of the other relationships in your life.

Here are a few ideas on how to get started.

1.  Use Pastor's weekly scripture verses as the starting point for your week's reading.  Meditate and pray on the verses, read before and after the verses.  Consult the footnotes or other references.

2.  Pick a book of the Bible and start reading.

3.  Commit to reading the Bible cover to cover. There are many methods to use:  One Year Bibles are sold in many stores or go online for great ideas and references.  Most plans include an Old Testament reading, a New Testament reading, a Psalm, and a Proverb.

4.  Use topical references to help you search the Bible for the circumstances in your life.  These are found in the index of most Bibles and also in devotional books.

Do you have trouble understanding the Bible?  How about…

1.  consulting an online resource or other Bible concordance or reference.

2.  reading from a different translation.  Biblegateway.com lists most if not all of these.

3.  asking Pastor for help

biblegateway.com also has an online plan for reading the Bible in one year.  You may start at any date so you're not too late!

Don't forget…

*   Bible reading is not just a solo activity.  Read with your family or friends.  Encourage your children to read the Bible daily at their appropriate level.  Discuss what you're reading.

*   God doesn't want this to be a burden. Think of it as a friend who wants to connect with you each day.  Our relationship with God is a gift and a privilege.

*   Pray that God will encourage you in your reading and understanding of His Word and use you in building up His Kingdom.

 God bless you in 2012!

Sunday School

Sunday School classes are currently active for all.  We have curriculum for preschool, kindergarten and lower elementary and would love to serve kids of those ages!

In addition to the regular Sunday School curriculum, each class is studying the Lord's prayer at their own level.  Each student has received a Lord's Prayer bookmark to commemorate this great beginning and study.

We will soon have Bible highlighters to give to each Sunday School student.  It's important to know that writing in our Bibles is OK!  It helps us to write God's work on our hearts (Psalm 119:1).

This years teachers are:
Upper elementary:  Jan Chance
Middle School:  Mel Hill
High School:  Jason Boyd
Adults: Scott Milsom
Substitutes:  Kyle Ceplecha and Lori Milsom

Just a reminder.....has your Bible been coming to church with you?  If not, please consider making this a habit!!  This will give you a chance to write in your bible with everyone!

Dr. Paul M. Elliott of Teaching the Word Ministries says...
Why should you mark your Bible? Let me suggest two reasons. First, it will reinforce the things you learn in your own reading and study of God's Word, so that you can continue to profit from that learning and build upon it. As you read through the Bible over and over again (this should be every Christian's habit, but sadly few do it) your markings will remind you of past discoveries, and help stimulate new ones.

Second, a well-marked Bible is a testimony to pass on to children, grandchildren, and other loved ones. I have the Bibles of both of my late parents, and it is interesting and a blessing to sit down and read their notes, whether it's a cross-reference between two passages, a divine promise that was particularly meaningful, the way of salvation underlined for use in personal witnessing, a thought gleaned from a sermon, or some point of application of the Word to their own lives. Many people consider the well-marked Bibles of their forebears among their most precious possessions.  Please visit:
